The Power Of One Day

February 27, 2017

How many times do we say hello to people in our lifetime? Thousands, maybe even millions. While we serve together, especially on Sundays, we often greet one another with “Hare Krishna!”.

We may chant the Hare Krishna mantra throughout the week and sing the mantra during kirtan with one another, but Sundays offer an especially nice time to share the Holy Name with our neighbors, friends and new faces. We come together and grow in bhakti by shared experiences in the temple and through service.

During our Sunday Serve closing session this week, each of us spoke about our motivation to serve and some highlights from our service. Shivani, a member of ISKCON of DC for over 6 years, spent the day with the Lunch Serve Team helping to set up and serve the Sunday lunch. She shared that while serving prasadam (sacred food) and connecting to others, she felt reciprocation from more people in one day than probably six years! This is the power of serving together - while helping to provide a memorable time for others we benefit too.

The Sunday Serve program details are:

Time: 11 am - 4pm

Service Teams include: Temple Ushers, Lunch Service, Parking Administration,

Connections Table
