The Age of Enlightenment

“Devotional service is so potent that simply by engaging in the activities of devotional service one becomes enlightened without a doubt,” Srimad Bhagavatam 9.2 purport

Most often, the promise of enlightenment is dangled in front of us. For example, companies advertise products and we are promised that we will be smarter, more important and more powerful, if we buy that one product. We will be different than we are, and therefore we will be enlightened.

On the other hand, devotional service, that is the service we perform as an offering to Krishna without being attached to the results, promises a longer lasting enlightenment. Devotional service brings us closer to one another and helps us to know and accept ourselves too.

In the above quote, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada tells us, that by practicing in service without a doubt we become enlightened. When we perform service at the temple with each other, we practice being together in community. From these experiences, some really great realizations come. We encourage you to participate in Sunday Serve in order to grow in your devotional service, and share your enlightenment with all of us!
