About Dushera
The Victory of Lord Rama
The Ramayana is the very ancient history of the great King Ramacandra, Krishna himself in his avatar as a monarch. When he was a Prince he was cursed to live in the forest for 14 years and during that time his wife, Princess Sita, was kidnapped by a rival King, the powerful and ambitious Ravana. A great search took place to find Sita, and as the story unfolds, all kinds of creatures, both allies and enemies, join forces and amazing things happen.
The Dushera Festival celebrates the ultimate victory of Lord Ramacandra, when he finally finds his wife Sita, and the evil Ravana is slain.
A colorful stage play of the search and battle takes place at 6pm, after which a large model of Ravana goes up in smoke!
